An electrical spring contact must do two jobs at once. It needs to maintain a steady contact force like a spring and carry current without losing conductivity. That combination is what makes these small parts essential inside switches, relays, breakers, motor controls, thermal cutoffs, and battery systems. When a contact spring loses tension or its surface wears down, the device around it stops working as it should.

Valco has been stamping precision metal arts in Cleveland, Ohio for more than 55 years, and electrical spring contacts are a natural fit for our four-slide and multi-slide capabilities. We design the tooling, run the stampings, and handle secondary operations in-house, so a part moves from first sample to full production without ever leaving our shop.

Materials for Electrical Spring Contacts

Conductivity starts with the right material, and our team provides a range of options to fit your application. We stamp electrical spring contacts in materials like:

Beryllium copper is a common choice when a part needs both high conductivity and fatigue resistance to hold its spring force through repeated cycling. Meanwhile, brass and copper alloys deliver strong conductivity at a lower cost. Lastly, stainless steel can add corrosion resistance for harsher environments. Once your choice is made, plating and finishing will give you another level of control, with options that improve surface conductivity and protect against wear over the lifetime of the part.

The experts at Valco can help you determine which material will work for the demands of your intended application.

Stamping Built for Tight Tolerances

Our four-slide and multi-slide machines suit the bends, forms, and contact geometry these parts require, and our press room handles work from 5 to 200 tons. Tolerances matter here, because a contact that sits even slightly out of a spec can change how a circuit performs. Plus, every part is produced under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system, with inspection built into each stage.

We treat prototyping as part of the work, not an extra step. Our engineers build from your print, produce samples you can test in the actual device, refine the design, and then move into a product run at whatever volume you need, whether that’s a short run or high volume.

Contact Valco for Made-in-the-USA Parts

Every contact we produce is made in the United States, and we regularly work with companies who are bringing their manufacturing back home to enhance quality and control.

If you need a custom electrical spring contact built to your specifications, contact Valco today, and our team will help you determine the right material, geometry, and finish for your application.
